About ITcard
What?
ITcard is a computer knowledge certificate. In 2002 the European Software Institute (ESI) develops a measurement method for independent evaluation of skills when using computers and internet in order to meet the need for "measuring" the number of people whose competent usage of information technologies is proven. ITcard is a measurement method independent from any kinds of training or certain companies' software products. For taking the exam you do not need to have attended a special training or IT course. The distinct difference between training and evaluation of knowledge and skills is a guarantee for the quality of the gained certificate.
ITcard covers basic applications that are necessary for the average user in their everyday job. Operating systems, databases, text editors, presentations and internet, including different browsers and e-mail clients. These main applications are grouped into five basic modules:
Internet & E-mail
Microsoft Word
Microsoft Excel
OpenOffice.org Writer
OpenOffice.org Calc
Who?
The certificate is suitable for a wide range of people that want to become or to prove that already are part of the Information society. ITcard is applicable whenever an objective evaluation of IT knowledge is needed. ITcard is useful for those who are looking for a job, as well as for those who are offering one.
For several minutes the applicant can prove his IT skills while the employer can check his exact score and knowledge on the Internet. That information is accessible online any time you want.
ITcard certification is addressed to people who are willing to improve their degree of qualification in the Information Technology and IT-related subjects. For the state administration and municipalities. For teachers, students etc.
For the employers that appreciate IT literacy!
How?
Everybody can obtain an ITcard certificate after successfully taking the exam. The test is divided into five basic modules that cover Internet, Windows and Linux. Each user has the opportunity to choose whether to take a single module or a combined test. The combined test contains 105 questions from the three main fields - Internet, Microsoft Office Basic Pack (Word, Excel) or Internet, OpenOffice.org Basic pack (Writer, Calc). For both tests the applicant has two hours to answer the questions.
- Single tests – word processing (70 questions for 2 hours)
- Microsoft Word
- OpenOffice.org Writer
- Single tests – spreadsheets (70 questions for 2 hours)
- Microsoft Excel
- OpenOffice.org Calc
- Single tests
- Internet / e-mail (70 questions for 2 hours)

- Triple pack MS (Word, Excel, Internet/e-mail)

The questions and tasks are in Bulgarian language but the applicant can choose whether to work with the Bulgarian or with the English version of the test. The options are:
- Questions in Bulgarian – screenshots in English
- Questions in Bulgarian – screenshots in Bulgarian
- Questions in English – screenshots in English
Tests content
The single test contains 70 question and tasks. The applicant has two hours to solve them. Each time the questions are generated randomly from a database with more than 300 questions. If you take one and the same test two times, the second time the questions will be different. Some questions have more than one correct answer.
Some of the questions are multiple choice questions. But the majority are made as a simulation of the real work with the product on which the applicant is being tested. As a rule when solving such simulation questions, only one of the possible ways for answering the questions has to be used - options from the menubar, options from the toolbars or keyboard shortcut combinations. For passing the test the applicant has to answer correctly at least 75% of the questions.
